News this month of an upcoming visit which hopefully will prove instructive and potentially lifesaving.
Now that I hope I have your your attention we have to thank David for organising what I am sure will be a fascinating visit to one of the essential emergency services, but one we hear very little about. Namely the Teesdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue Service. They are based in Durham, but have an outpost at the new combined emergency services centre in Barnard Castle.
Due to an emergency during the recent ‘Beast’ David was taken to hospital by the mountain rescue because there was no other way of getting to his house due to the snow drifts. The upshot of this is that they have agreed to spend an evening telling us what their role is and demonstrating some of their equipment.
So instead of the next meeting at the Red Lion we shall meet at the emergency services centre at 1925 (don’t be late). For those that don’t know the address is: Wilson Street, Barnard Castle, DL12 8JU.
For those not at the last meeting can you let David or myself know if you shall be attending as a courtesy to them so they know what numbers to expect.
So to recap: that’s Sunday 8th April at 1925 outside the Emergency Services Centre.
As a reminder the Brough/Kirby Commercial Vehicle event is on the Easter weekend 31/3-01/4 and Drive it Day is on 22/4. We are looking for ideas for destinations on Drive it Day so bring them along to Barney on the 8th or get in touch with myself or Jon.
